The Journey of Our Recycled Cotton Ropes
At KOBA, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Our recycled cotton cords begin their life as discarded textiles that are given a second chance. Let us take you through the process:
1. Collection of Recycled Materials
Old t-shirts, fabric scraps, and other textiles are carefully collected for recycling. Instead of ending up as waste, these materials are the foundation for our beautiful, eco-friendly yarn.
2. Shredding by color
The collected textiles are shredded into small pieces, separating the colors without using any dyes. By carefully sorting the materials, we ensure the vibrant hues of our final cords are natural, reflecting the original textiles. No extra dyes or chemicals are used in this process.
3.Yarn
Once sorted, the fibers are spun into yarn by our trusted European supplier, who holds a GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification. This ensures that the yarn meets the highest sustainability standards.
4. Ropes
The yarn is then delivered to our Belgian supplier, where it is expertly crafted into high-quality ropes, custom-made for KOBA.
5. Final Product
The recycled yarn is transformed into the cords that make up our handmade baskets. Every KOBA basket tells a story of sustainability, craftsmanship, and care for the planet.
